CAD Training

Computer-Aided Design (CAD) training curriculum for FRC teams

Table of content
  1. Module Overview

  3. Resources

This module builds from generic CAD/spatial-reasoning fundamentals to OnShape- and FRC-specific design work, then to advanced, independent subsystem design and finally full-robot leadership. Levels 1-2 are self-guided; Levels 3-4 shift toward mentor-reviewed project work, since evaluating independent design judgment and leadership requires more than a checklist. Uses OnShape (free, browser-based, and the de facto standard in FRC) and FRCDesign.org (a comprehensive FRC-specific OnShape reference and learning site) throughout.

Module Overview

Level 1: Fundamentals

Generic CAD/spatial-reasoning concepts, then OnShape-specific basics for FRC teams

Level 2: Part Design & Assembly

Advanced part design, assemblies, COTS integration, and DFM for FRC teams

Level 4: Full Robot Integration

Leadership in robot design and integration
