Electrical Systems Training
Electrical systems and control implementation curriculum for FRC teams
Table of content
This module builds from generic electronics fundamentals to the FRC-specific control system (roboRIO, CAN bus, PDP/PDH, motor controllers), then to advanced sensor/vision integration and finally electrical program leadership. Levels 1-2 are self-guided; Levels 3-4 shift toward mentor-reviewed project work, since evaluating independent design judgment and leadership requires more than a checklist.
Module Overview
Level 1: Basic Electronics
Generic electrical concepts, safety, and hand-tool circuit construction
Level 2: Robot Electronics
The FRC control system -- power distribution, CAN bus, sensors, legal wiring
Level 3: Advanced Control Systems
Custom sensors, vision/coprocessor wiring, closed-loop control, and panel design
Level 4: Systems Architecture & Innovation
High-level electrical system design and technical leadership
